Žarko Milenić was born in 1961 in Brčko. He lived in Brčko, Osijek and Rijeka. He worked as a journalist, professional writer and secretary of literary associations in Rijeka and Brčko. In 2018, he received a master's degree in Russian literature and comparative studies at the National Research University in Moscow. He is writing a dissertation on film adaptations of literary works. He published over thirty books of prose, poetry and essays and translated seventy books from Russian, English, Macedonian, Slovenian, Bulgarian and Ukrainian languages. He participated in translators' seminars and congresses in Russia, Serbia and Slovenia. He has won recognition for his translation work in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia and China. He published essays on translation in anthologies and magazines in Russia, BiH and Serbia. He is the editor-in-chief of the theater, literature and culture magazine Susreti iz Brčko. He edited a large number of books. He is a reviewer and author of numerous afterwords to books. He stayed at literary residencies in Shanghai, Split, Pula and Velenje.
