Jagna Pogačnik

Jagna Pogačnik was born in 1969 in Zagreb. Literary critic and translator. Graduated in Croatian studies and South Slavic philology at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb. Since 2000, she has been working as an independent literary critic and translator. Since 1989, she has been publishing literary reviews, essays and debates in numerous newspapers and magazines, as well as on Croatian Radio ("Bibliovizor" of the Third Program of Croatian Radio, "Petkom o književnosti", "Književni utorak", etc.). From 2000 to 2003, she was a permanent literary critic of the show "Knjižnica" on Croatian television. She edited the literary magazines Rijek (Faculty of Pedagogy, Osijek, 1990) and Zor (Matica hrvatska, Zagreb 1995-1997). Wrote a dozen prefaces and afterwords for books by contemporary Croatian writers. Since 2000 she is a permanent literary critic of Jutarnji List, where she monitors national prose production weekly, and one of the founders and members of the jury of the "Jutarnji List" Award for national prose. Her critical texts were translated into Slovenian, German and French. She translated about a hundred literary and professional texts from Slovenian published in periodicals, a dozen radio dramas, and fifteen books by contemporary Slovenian writers. In 2000, she was awarded the international award of "Kulturkontakt" from Vienna for her translation.
