Merima Omeragić is a theorist of literature and culture, Slavist and senior researcher at the University of Sarajevo. She completed her basic and master's studies in literature in Sarajevo, and she received her doctorate in theory with general literature at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Belgrade in 2023, with the topic "Post/Yugoslav anti-war women's prose" under the mentorship of prof. Ph.D. Biljana Dojčinović. She participated in a series of international conferences, forums, round tables and festivals where she presented her topics and works based on transdisciplinary, comparative, transnational and intersectional approaches. Her research areas include literature, film, art, as well as art history, feminist studies, decolonial and nation studies, minority studies. She was a candidate for prestigious awards and scholarships, of which she particularly points out that she received the Award of the University of Sarajevo for scientific research work and a scholarship for scientists Žarana Papić for doctoral research. She is the author of a significant number of articles and scientific works published abroad and in the region in indexed and prestigious journals and anthologies. In co-authorship with Dubravka Ugrešić, she published the book Brnjica za vještice (2021), which is expected to be published in English in the fall of this year by Open Letter Books. She is a member of the Association for Women in Slavic Studies (AWSS), as well as the scientific network Women Writers in History.
