Izvještaj s događaja: Drago Glamuzina, "Noćni portir"
WRITTEN BY: Marija Skočibušić
A few minutes until 4 p.m. The curious audience nicely filled the garden of the Buybook bookstore. I'm already drinking the grounds, the last thing left of the darkness of a pleasant afternoon coffee. I am impatient. Where are the author and moderator? My view is obscured by someone else's head. I squirm to the right, hunch my back, cross my right leg over my left leg, lean on my right arm and nod excitedly – well, now everything is ready for the talk about the book ‘Noćni portir’ by Drago Glamuzina. After writing during the winter and spring of 2022, the book and its author have finally come to light. The reason for this is the program of the second day of the ninth International Literature Festival Bookstan, which traditionally includes the presentation of books from Buybook's Diary edition, edited by Semezdin Mehmedinović. Glamuzina said that at first he reluctantly accepted Mehmedinović's invitation, but after reading the previously published diaries, his enthusiasm surfaced. He decided to sit down at the keyboard, surround himself with the dark voice of Canadian singer-songwriter Michelle Gurevich while writing, and get to work during the night hours. Krajišnik, in whose hands is the moderator baton, noticed the ways in which the author managed to cope with the default settings of the diary in his recognizable (novelistic) style, thus impressively expanding the boundaries of the genre. At the same time, he remained faithful to the themes of entangled romantic and tender family relationships, drawing into the weaving of the text and the preoccupation of the love of reading and writing. Glamuzina nods with satisfaction at the observation and smiles at the audience, simply explaining: 'I think people should write about things that matter to them.' It is interesting the narrator is confronted with the very framework of the given genre that a couple of times in the book, so Glamuzina admits that he gave up the traditional attitude that diary entries should be true to life, preferring to focus his attention on producing a good book. Accordingly, the photos from the author's private archive, which are inserted into the text, were not created unplanned, but with a well-thought-out goal. Everyone in the audience applauds. What do we need the truth for, give us a good story! After all, borders exist for a very good reason – to be transgressable.
