Alena Ćatović

Alena Ćatović was born in 1975 in Sarajevo. She completed her studies in Turkish language and literature at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo. She advanced her research in Turkish language and literature during her postgraduate studies at Bilkent University in Ankara, as a doctoral dissertation in the field of classical Turkish literature, which she defended in 2009 in Sarajevo. She is employed at the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo, where she has been teaching Turkish literature for more than twenty years, and since 2019 as a full professor. In the period from 2012 to 2018, she worked as a visiting professor at the Department of Turkology, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Zagreb. She is the author and co-author of nine scientific and professional books in the field of Turkish language and literature, some of which have been published in Slovenia, Turkey, and Azerbaijan. She has published over fifty scientific papers in the field of Turkology in domestic and international publications, as well as ten literary translations. Her interests range from classical Ottoman poetry, through contemporary trends in recent Turkish literature, to translation theory.
