Judith Hermann (Berlin, 1970) is one of the most famous contemporary German writers. Her debut novel Sommerhaus, später was a revolutionary for the short story genre in contemporary German literature. Her second collection of short stories, Nichts als Gespenster, was made into a film of the same title. She was followed by the collections of short stories Alice and Lettipark, as well as her first novel Aller Liebe Anfang. Since 1999, she has received numerous literary awards, including the Hugo Ball, Heinrich von Kleist, Friedrich Hölderlin, Erich Fried and Blixenprisen awards. For her novel Home she won the literary awards of the city of Bremen, the Rheingau region and the LiteraTour Nord. Her books have been translated into over twenty languages.
