Vesna Evans

Author

As a ten-year-old refugee from Sarajevo, Vesna Evans (maiden name Tvrtković) finds a new home in Prague, where she continues her education and, along with her studies, begins her literary and journalistic journey. Today she lives between Norway and the Czech Republic - she writes in Czech, but works within four linguistic and cultural spaces. Her fiction and non-fiction work is imbued with the experience of being a refugee, belonging and constant movement between language and identity. In addition to writing, she actively initiates multicultural projects and advocates for human rights and intercultural dialogue. The novel Baršunasta domovina (translated by Hasan Zahirović) is her third literary work, and based on the motif of the novel, she is currently developing a screenplay for a feature film.
